Rachel N. HeltonRachel Helton holds degrees from Michigan State University (B.A., 1997, magna cum laude) and Wayne State University Law School (J.D., 2000). She has been associated with or of counsel to the firm since 2002, where she has represented unions and employees in arbitrations, proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and the Michigan Employment Relations Commission, and state and federal court. In addition to representing unions and workers, she practices in the field of criminal appellate law. In 2021, she received the Barbara Levine Award for Excellence in Appellate Advocacy from Michigan’s State Appellate Defender Office. She has taught courses in employment discrimination, the Family Medical Leave Act, and criminal resentencing before Michigan State University, Macomb County Community College, the American Arbitration Association and the Michigan Appellate Assigned Counsel System (MAACS). She was a member of the Trenton Board of Education from 2015 to 2021, serving as its president in 2019. She was elected to the council of the Michigan State Bar Prisons and Corrections Section in 2020, and serves as its secretary. She is also a member of the Michigan State Bar Labor and Employment Section and Appellate Practice Section.
